We hope you all enjoyed your snowy weekend!
This week in Math, students will continue working on estimating and measuring lengths in centimeters and meters. We will also take a closer look at measuring the perimeters of objects and places. So far, students have really enjoyed our measurement unit, they are getting a lot of hands on experience with using rulers, and making connections between actual and estimated sizes of known lengths.
In Social Studies we will continue to look the landforms, bodies of water, vegetation, and climates found and experienced on Prince Edward Island and the Atlantic Region. We defined what each of these things meant to us last week and discussed different types of regions. We will take a closer look at our Atlantic Region in order to compare our regional features.
In Literacy we are starting a new reading strategy that uses punctuation to enhance phrasing (end marks, commas, etc.) This will help to improve students fluency skills as they read with smoothness and flow.
Reminder of our Valentine's Day celebration on Tuesday, February 14th! If your child is handing out valentines, please refer to our note that was sent home last week with all students' first names on it. If you would like to send in a treat for our celebration, please be conscious of our nut free policy at Athena and of our gluten sensitivities within our own classroom.
