Week 26: March 5 - 9

This week in Math we will continue to work on our patterning skills. We will practice our skip counting and create patterns based on given pattern rules.  Please continue to practice the basic addition and subtraction math facts at home each night!  We will soon be beginning our unit on Multiplication and Division, which essentially is repeated addition and subtraction!

In Social Studies, students will continue to work with the climate of the Atlantic Region and PEI, and practice their mapping skills.  They will also work to complete an acrostic poem about PEI that will detail information about our province's bodies of water, landforms, vegetation, and climate!

In Literacy we will be working on a new reading strategy, which is to enhance accuracy by skipping a word then come back to it.  In writing students will continue to work on creative pieces.  We will also be having fun with some St. Patrick's day art this week!

Report cards will be sent home on Wednesday, and Parent Teacher Interviews will start Thursday after school and run during the day on Friday (NO SCHOOL).  We sent home an interview time sheet last week, and we would like to have these all returned ASAP so we can make arrangements to accommodate as many parents as we can.  We look forward to catching up with each of you on your child's progress in our second term this year!

Reminder: The Scholastic Book Fair is at Athena this week (March 2 - 9). Students will have a chance to preview books early in the week and another chance to purchase books.  The Book Fair will also be open to parents during Athena's interview times.
