Week 30: April 10-13

Happy Easter!! We hope that the Easter Bunny found everyone despite the stormy weather!!

This week in Math, students will continue their work on multiplication as they look at arrays (the arrangement of objects into equal rows and columns, where 5 (rows) x 3(columns) = 15 (total)), and relating multiplication sentences (5 x 3 = 15 and 3 x 5 = 15).  Students continue to work on their flashcards, which will be sent home this week to begin practice!  The set will be sent home each night, and is expected to be returned to school the next day with your child!

In Social Studies, students will begin to look at Chapter 3 in our text, titled "Where Do People Live and Work on PEI?". This chapter aims to look at urban and rural communities and their characteristics, as well as look at the 5 factors that influence where people chose to live and work (employment opportunities, natural resources, services, transportation, and communication). REMINDER: Fantasy Island Posters are due Tuesday, April 10th!

In Literacy, students will begin research for their Descriptive Reports.  A quick reminder for parents to continue to check for understanding/comprehension after your child reads aloud to you.  Another reminder that the children do not have a new guided reading book home every night, so if a particular book is not sent home from school, the students know they are to choose one from home to read!

Dates to Remember:
Friday, April 27 = Professional Development Day No Classes
